What Drumclip certifications mean for your business
Exploring the different global certifications held by the Drumclip solution and what these mean for businesses.
Certifications help businesses to work uniformly, safely and efficiently. They help to define the way processes should be completed according to globally agreed and recognised standards.
Drumclip is an internationally certified solution – its certifications benefit businesses by ensuring and improving safety and preventing accidents or wastage. DrumClips are certified for pallet stability and cargo safety, and are also tested and certified for load securing and transport.
What do Drumclips certifications mean for my business?
The certifications Drumclips hold mean that when used correctly, businesses are operating safely to protect their teams, products, supply chain, customers and the wider public.
By standardising the way in which DrumClips are applied and used in conjunction with other packaging solutions, Drumclips usage instructions and associated certifications reduce the risk of drums becoming loose, toppling over or spilling materials during transit.
In this way, Drumclips benefit businesses by improving safety and preventing accidents or wastage. Additionally, they can increase process efficiencies, reduce packaging costs, lower packaging weights and support sustainability commitments (since they are reusable and recyclable).
Drumclip certifications:
TUV Rheinland testing
The Drumclip has been tested and certified by TÜV Rheinland according to DIN EN 12642 Annex B for the guidelines for load securing and DIN EN 1219501 for transport. This certification recognises Drumclip for its suitability as “a load securing aid”. Testing also assessed its “mechanical safety, ageing resistance, pollutant content, and the completeness and comprehensibility of instructions for its use”.
TÜV Rheinland are independent experts who work globally, testing systems, services, products and processes according to international standards and performance benchmarks.
EUMOS 40509 certification
Drumclips have been tested and certified according to EUMOS 40509 – a test method for load unit rigidity. This sets a protocol for testing, loading and securing palletised goods to identify the correct tolerances for goods as they are moved.
EUMOS – the European Safe Logistics Association – works to improve safety across the logistics supply chain and upholds two of its own standards as test methods.
ISTA certification
The Drumclip is compliant with the ISTA 3E-2017 standard for unitised loads – a certification for pallet stability. This validates its “capability” as a “system for sufficient load stability subjected to rough mechanical handling, forklift truck handling and warehouse stacking”.
The International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) is a global organisation that educates, trains, tests and supports businesses with transport and packaging.
Do all three certifications apply to any application of Drumclips?
All three global certifications DrumClips hold only apply when applying a Drumclip (red, green or orange) to secure four drums to a pallet in conjunction with horizontal and vertical polyester strapping, non-slip mats and a tension strap.
If Drumclips are used to secure four drums to a pallet in conjunction with wrapping film, this is only certified to TUV Rheinland standards.
If Drumclips are used to secure two drums to a pallet in conjunction with horizontal and vertical strapping, this is only certified to EUMOS 40509 standards.
These global quality marks certify Drumclips for transportation on land (by truck or by rail).
When do the different certifications apply?
The Drumclip is only compliant with these global certifications when used correctly and in conjunction with the right packaging materials.

FAQs
How do you secure drums on a pallet?
Drums can be secured on pallets using a combination of non-slip mats, wrap film, polyester strapping and Drumclips. Only use of a Drumclip offers certified load stability, though. This secures drums to one another and gives a fixed point for strapping to be used to secure drums to the pallet and a trailer. Learn more in this blog: How to use Drumclips
How to secure barrels on a pallet?
Barrels or drums can be secured on a pallet using the right packaging products. Barrels containing liquids or pellets of materials like chemicals, oils, fuels or dry goods can all be secured to pallets using Drumclips.
